The Musée de Valence is an art and archaeology museum. The museum has been a significant regional institution, attracting thousands of visitors each year with its extensive collections and various exhibits.
The museum's origins trace back to the 19th century, and it now occupies an 11th-century episcopal palace in the heart of the city. The palace itself has undergone numerous renovations and expansions over the years, notably a significant modern extension that was completed in 2013.
The collections of the Musée de Valence are divided into two main categories: art and archaeology. The art collection includes works from the 16th century to the present day, with a particular focus on artists from the Rhône-Alpes region, including the Valence-born painter Hubert Robert. The collection also includes a significant number of works by contemporary artists.

The archaeological collections contain artifacts from the Prehistoric, Celtic, Roman, and Medieval periods that were discovered in and around the Valence area. These include a diverse array of objects such as pottery, jewelry, tools, and architectural fragments, as well as an important collection of Gallo-Roman statuary.

In addition to its permanent collections, the museum also hosts temporary exhibitions and cultural events. The museum also has a beautiful sculpture garden that overlooks the Rhône River, providing visitors with a peaceful place to relax and take in the stunning views.
