Here's a bit of history and overview of the event up until 2021:
The race was first established in 1975 by Thierry Sabine, the man behind the world-renowned Dakar Rally. It was originally open to motorbikes only, but due to its rising popularity, a separate quad bike race, known as the Quaduro, was added to the program.
The main race typically lasts for three hours, with riders battling through incredibly tough conditions, often including sand dunes and bitterly cold winter weather. The course is designed on the beach, stretching for several kilometers, and it has the reputation of being one of the toughest enduro races on the calendar.
Tens of thousands of spectators typically gather to witness the spectacle, and the race is renowned for its unique atmosphere. Over the years, it has attracted competitors from around the world, both professional and amateur, all drawn by the challenge and prestige of the event.
It's important to note that while the race is thrilling to watch and take part in, safety is a priority. The organization behind the event puts in place various measures to ensure the safety of both participants and spectators.
